Lavelle Law in Schaumburg has grown over the last 30 years to become a multi-faceted law firm, with more than 40 attorneys who are experienced in numerous areas of law. But last month, the firm upped its game, so to speak.

The first-time Business Showdown filled the room with Schaumburg Business Association members.
At the October “Good Morning Schaumburg” meeting of members of the Schaumburg Business Association, Lavelle lawyers introduced the Business Showdown. The friendly game show competition pitted two teams against one another, attempting to answer business and finance questions. Each team featured a Lavelle Law attorney, as well as a CPA and a business consultant.
Team members included Ted McGinn, Managing Partner of Lavelle Law, Ed Brooks of DHJJ Accounting, and David VenHorst of Tenant Advisors taking on Lavelle Law’s Nataly Kaiser, Beau Buchanan of Porte Brown, and Ray Ives from Transworld Business Advisors.
“Generally at these events, representatives of a qualified business will do a presentation for fellow SBA members on a relevant topic,” said Lavelle Law Shareholder Kelly Anderson, who helped organize the event. “We thought we’d have some fun by building our guidance into answers to key questions regarding legal, financial or operational challenges businesses face.”

For their part, members of the Schaumburg Business Association, which takes in more than 900 member businesses, described the Business Showdown as a “huge hit.”
“From friendly competition and plenty of laughs to great business insights,” SBA officials said, “our teams brought the energy and made this one of our most entertaining events yet.”
In the end, the team led by Lavelle’s Nataly Kaiser won the competition. As a result, Lavelle Law Charities made a $1,000 donation to the Schaumburg Township Veteran Services in honor of Veterans Day.
The township’s Veteran service assists veterans and their families in understanding and applying for qualified benefits. The office also can assist veterans with obtaining copies of discharge papers, providing information on disability compensation, burial benefits and allowances, and much more.

Lavelle’s Kelly Anderson presents the donation to Marianne Rogenski of Schaumburg Township and Quintet Hobson-Robb, Executive Director of Schaumburg Township Veteran Services Mental Health Board.
In looking back on the first-time event, Schaumburg Business Association officials described the competition as an “amazing morning” during one of their bi-monthly Good Morning Schaumburg meetings.
“A huge thank you to our presenting sponsor, Lavelle Law,” SBA officials said, “as well as our incredible participants, and everyone who joined us for such a fun-filled morning.”
